Week 9, thing 23

I finished! I really liked that the BCPL system was allowing time for the staff to learn new skills, and to be exposed to many different concepts and sites on the Web that we would probably not even know about. I feel less intimidated by some of the lingo that I hear. I think this will be helpful to branch staff when customers ask questions. I think that some sites and applications are more valuable than others, ex. creating bloglines and wikis for groups and workplans. Now I would like to include some bells and whistles on my blog.

Week 9, thing 22

Looked at Overdrive and went through the tutorial. Now when I get home I can set up an account on my computer.

Week 9, thing 21

Looked at several podcast sites. Really enjoyed the music ones. Found some nice Celtic music on Magnatune.

Week 9, thing 20

Went to You Tube. I can see how people can get addicted to the site. I looked at several videos including library dominoes. Very clever. I also watched several cat and kitten ones like funny cats 5. If you have cats, you have seen some of the same things happen to your cats as on the video. Obviously I have a fondness for cats since three live at my house.

Week 8, thing 19

Found many interesting websites on Web 2.0. awards site. Had fun with Pandora music site. A nice way to listen to new music by creating your own station with your kind of music. You don't have to stick with on kind of music so it can have lots of variety.

Week 8: thing 18

Listened to podcast and explored different sites to see what they offer. Some really interesting things available out there. Created an account of ZohoWriter. It will be interesting to learn to send it to the blog.

Week 7 thing 17

I set up an entry on Learnign 2.0 sandbox under noonlyforkids. It is a list of things I like. I found that this easy to do.

Week 7 thing 16

I think that wikis could be useful for workplans, and committees to use to communicate with each other. It would also be useful for people are part of special interest groups to share information and communication about their interests.

Week 6, thing 15

Web 2.0 I read several articles and find that the assessment of the future of libraries is one that I already had. We need to change our mental model of our role in the communities so that we remain relevant in today's society. This means that we have to have access from patron's homes to our resources. We are already replacing many print items with electronic databases and ebooks. We need to continue to stay on top of changes and what people want.

Week 6 thing 14

Explored Technorati and saw video blog to celebrate the lives of those who died on 9/11/01. The feeling is still the same as the day it happened. Shock and horror and pain for the families left behind.

Week 6 thing 13

Read the definition of tagging. Tutorial not working today, 9/11/07; will check again later in the week. Looked at Del.icio.us site and read some of blogs and tags. 9/21/07 was able to listen to the tutorial for Del.icio.us site. It sounds like a good way to do research.

Week 5, thing 12

Checked out Rollyo. I thought it would be useful if you used the same sites most of the time. It could also be used for hobbies and crafts.

Week 5, thing 11

Checked out the Library Thing. I can see uses for this if one needs to catalog.

Week 5, thing 10

Genereated a custom M&M person on an online image generator. Pretty neat.
